Bathroom - Tub Walls are Finished!!!

Bathroom updates!

Instead of tile we will add a wood panel to the front of the bathtub.

~ Before ~

The strange box above the shower is now gone!!!
It's looks so much better!

It took us awhile to decide where to place the tiles. A lot of math had to be done. lol

I love the little corner shelf. The store only had one shelf that matched our tile. I would have loved to have two shelves on the same wall.

The updated bathroom is in the lodge room.

Here are the true colors of the tiles.

 ~ Before grout ~

I love having the tiles go all the way up and on the ceiling.

There were two floors in the bathroom. Neither one was in good shape.

I bought floor tile that my husband is not so happy about. He ended up taking the backing off of them. They were uneven and would have looked like a child installed them. It's going to be very difficult putting them down as each one is a different size. Live and learn. :(

I found out that you need talent to grout. I dripped more grout on me and the tub. My sweet husband had to do the rest. I gave up trying. Then the caulk we used did not dry. The next day it was sticky and wet. I spent over an hour removing it all with a plastic putty knife.

We are now halfway finished with the room.

Already tested and approved by my son :)

We are taking a break.

Thanks for stopping by.

XO,

(I had that same black & white floor tile in our bathroom before we renovated it.)

  5. Great Job! It is always much harder than they make it look on TV. Seems that by the time you are finished with a major project like this, you have learned so much about what to do and what not to do. Your bathroom is gorgeous!
    Enjoy, Connie :)

  10. This looks great Dee! All your hard work and patience is paying off! I look forward to seeing the wood panel alone the tub. That is such a unique idea! I would not have the tolerance for tiling and grouting so I really admire you and your husband taking on such tasks.

  12. Dearest Dee,

You certainly earned that break! Wow, there are so many unexpected surprises that cost you time and are aggravating. But the end result so far looks very good. Funny is that you both also decided for ceiling tiles, all around. Like we did downstairs except that we had still a shower built in and you only the low tub. But for cleaning and practicality it works well.
    Enjoy your break.
    Love to you,

    Mariette

When we redid our master in our old house we put beadboard on the front of the tub and loved the look.

I hope you have a great week!

  14. Wow -- it looks stunning! I love the 'colored' tiles mixed in -- really adds great character and charm. UGG . . . that part about having to remove the sticky caulk made me cringe!

  17. Terrific! I like the accent tiles you chose. Know what you mean about grouting- I did it for a backsplash wall and the consistency has to be just right, needed help to get the haze off the next day. You should write some ebooks on these skills and projects.

  22. Looking good! What a difference just having the shower go all the way up. I had a bad tile pick once as well, and husband did the same thing.... take the back off so he could lay it straight. Live and learn!
