Here is a cheap and easy way to hang that artwork on those
bland dormer or angled walls. Defy gravity using KEYHOLE fasteners.
First go to Lowes and buy 2 packages of the appropriate
size. They seem to come in small and large sizes. I used the smaller ones
because my pictures were not too big and not very heavy.
The package has 2 fasteners and 4 screws. I attached the
first 2 fasteners to the top of the frame with the included screws. Next I used
the second package and attached the other 2 fasteners to the bottom of the
frame.
Now get 4 plastic wall anchors and 4 black drywall screws
about 1 inch long. You might also need a drill to make the hole. Drill the hole
slightly smaller than the anchor. Push the anchor into the hole and use a small
hammer to get it flush with the wall.
Next get 4 plastic wall anchors and 4 black drywall screws
about 1 inch long. You might also need a drill to make the hole. Drill the hole
slightly smaller than the anchor. Push the anchor into the hole and use a small
hammer to get it flush with the wall.
Put the screw into the anchor and screw
it in almost all the way. Leave about 1/4 inch sticking out.
Place the picture on the screw and hold it level. Now mark
another hole and repeat the above step 3 more time until all 4 screws are in.
Take your time and make sure the marks are accurate.
Attach and admire your new focal point.

How clever! The house we lived in once upon a time for a couple of years had undecorated slanted walls!
ReplyDeleteThat was amazing - I had no idea - we don't have them - but you never know - that room is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled to say I have straight walls. I can certainly see why slanted walls can be a problem and you seem to have solved it. Great tutorial.
ReplyDeleteThat is so clever, Dee! I've lived in lots of houses with attic rooms, I wish I'd known about this!
ReplyDeleteWhere there's a will, there's a way! lol
ReplyDeleteDee you come up with the greatest ideas! Have a fantastic weekend!
ReplyDeleteDearest Dee,
ReplyDeleteYou solved it very well! We used those keyhole fasteners for some items but not on a slanted wall since we don't have one.
You are always so clever for adding precious things to your lovely home!
Happy weekend to you.
Mariette
Oh I wish I had known this in my last house!! I never could figure it out. Genius!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you could do that! What a great idea to decorate those walls. :-)
ReplyDeleteVery clever of you! I WISH I had slanted walls in my house -- they give a room so much warmth and personality and your way of decorating them is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a clever idea! I would have never thought of this! I love slanted walls- I think they add so much character to a home!
ReplyDeleteGreat tip Dee! I have some upstairs I will use this on.
ReplyDeleteHi Dee,
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea! Too bad I didn't have any angled walls to try this on. I wanted to let you know you won my blog candy - a pretty pink scarf. Please stop over for the details.
Great tutorial Dee! The pictures look so good on your slanted walls.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Pam
You are so smart!!! I would have never thought of that . . . my answer would have been drilling little holes in my frames and screwing them to the walls. Then I'd have to figure out a way to hint the screws, besides messing up my frames.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog!
I learn something new all the time.
Thanks so much!
Connie :)

Dee,
ReplyDeleteI don't have any slanted walls but I would have never thought to use keyhole fasteners to hang pictures with. As a matter of fact, I don't think I would have ever thought to hang pictures on a slanted wall.
This is a brilliant idea! :) It looks great.
What a great tutorial Dee! It looks neat seeing pictures on a slanted wall.
ReplyDeleteGreat tips on hanging for a slanted wall! I don't have them myself but have friends that do and I am often helping people decorate their homes. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Thanks for the tutorial, Dee....Christine
ReplyDeleteNever thought of trying to hang pictures on our slanted walls in a previous home. Great idea, Dee!

Hello Dee, I'm back.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say thank you, so much, for the lovely comment you left on my blog. That is a wonderful compliment coming from someone as talented in decorating as you are. I feel honored that you like both my doors and my wall color. This hallway wall goes into the living room and dinning room. Where I painted the other walls a soft sage green. It turn out very nice. The best thing is every evening (since I've painted) Steve sits in the living room and says how much he loves the new look. It's so nice to have a husband that appreciates all the nesting that I do to our home.
Have a lovely week.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
This is so good to know Dee! I have dormer walls in my guest suite and I have never quite known what to do with them!
