How to Decorate Flower Pots

Do you love to buy decorated flower pots? Some of them can be quite expensive. You can now customize your own. There is no limit to your design. If you can print it, you can make it! *Imagination is all you need to create one of a kind flower pots within minutes. 
(There are no messy glues or paints needed.)


 For this project I used my laser printer, printer paper, terra cotta pots and a woodworker’s transfer tool. 
You can find the woodworker’s transfer tool on my sidebar. 
That’s all you need to get started. Print out your design using your laser printer. Cut your picture down to size to fit your terra cotta pot. Now heat up your woodworker's transfer tool. (Be careful as it heats up pretty fast.)
 I used a pot holder to keep the terra cotta pot from rolling while I transferred the image. Place the picture facing down on your terra cotta pot and start rubbing the round tip of your woodworker's transfer tool on the paper.  
It's That Easy!!!


Here you can see the image is starting to appear on the pot. I just rubbed the woodworker's transfer tool back and forth on the paper. *The heat from the woodworker's transfer tool melts the toner off the paper.  Pretty cool huh! The terra cotta pots inside can get quite warm while you’re working with the woodworker's transfer tool. Be careful not to touch in there while you’re transferring your image.


Here is a great close-up. You can see all the details of the picture I'm transferring onto the terra cotta pot.


Sometimes some of the paper sticks to the terra cotta pot.  


When you’re finished with transferring your image let the terra cotta pot sit for a few minutes.


 Now just run the terra cotta pot under warm water and rub of the remaining paper. 

You can print in color or black and white. The terra cotta pots work well with either as you can see.


This terra cotta pot I added some twine. I just wrapped the twine around twice and tied a knot. Then I added a white candle.



Here I added a mini rose bush!


These make wonderful gifts and they sell like hotcakes!!!

    Okay every time I see you do something with this tool I say to myself, "I HAVE to get one of those". These are so cute! I don't have a laser printer though but I guess you can just take your images to a local printer and have them do that?

    I hope you receive this message. I just bought a Samsung Xpress Mono Laser Printer from Staples and I can't get my images to transfer using the Citra-Sol method. I thought laser printers were the same since they use a toner cartridge. I saw where you use your home laser printer, so I was just wondering if you might know. Thanks. Love your blog.
