English Tudor Front Door

I had some antique walnut stain leftover. It's the PolyShades by Minwax. My front door was getting bleached by the sun and was looking quite grime and tattered. I've already put two coats of the stain on. I will add more next week. It's already a million times better looking.

~ Before ~

I love working on spring projects!  It's so nice to see the neighbor's out and about.

I'd love to take up the tile in the entry. It's has small cracks in it. There are so many projects to do in this old house :)

Our spring weather is just taking off in the North East. This pretty green planter I purchased last year from Home Depot. It sits right next to my front door. I can't wait to see the flowers blooming.

The sun is so bright and wonderful this time of year!

I made a pretty wreath and

added a sweet looking wood tag.

Thanks for stopping by!

  13. Your door looks great! Love the Tudor style. My front mahogany door gets bleached out by the very hot sun, too, and we have to have it refinished every couple years!

  17. Dee, your door is lovely. It has such style. Your old house is a beauty. I love old homes, but have never lived in one. The closest would be the home I grew up in. Lived there my entire life until I married. My father had built it. He passed away when I was only 9 mnths. old. My parents sold it after I married. Wishing I would have bought it. I drive by it quite often and have such fond memories. There's no place like home!
    Hugs,

  20. Dee, your door is gorgeous! It really is absorbing the stain isn't it? My son & d-i-l's front door is dark and the sun bleaches it too.

I'm loving this weather now. I was out late yesterday potting flowers and it's such a good feeling! It's nice to remember how good it feels to have one's hands in the dirt.

Hope you and your loved ones have a very Happy Easter!

  28. This door is fantastic Dee! Nice work revitalizing it. The window is very cool with those panels. I love the tiles too! I am sure it is a lot of work with an old house but the character must be so worth it. My home was built in 1960, hence a bit boring!

  30. Your front door is beautiful! I want to stain mine with a dark walnut stain, but I don't want to take off the old finish. Did you take off the old finish before you stained it?
    Thanks in advance.
