I have two scarlet mandevilla vines on both sides of my driveway. They are gorgeous tropical flowering vines.
Every fall I bring them inside till it's warm enough to go back outside. This year I've cut them back in hopes they will once again be as grand as in the photo's. I hope to get one more season with them.
Do you also love to decorate with garden pots?

ReplyDeleteI love potted plants. It is so easy to bring a bit of color to different areas of the yard. It is also nice to be able to move them around when you're after another look or mood in the garden. Grouping many colors can give a playful feeling to an area, but then if you separate them and put the cool colors together and the warm colors in another spot, well it's a simple way of making magic happen. I planned on working in my yard today, but it's raining. We have been needing this rain, so it's a happy day to stay inside. Have a wonderful day, Connie :)

ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful! I truly have a black thumb and anything I've tried to salvage during the winter has died but admittedly, I don't work hard enough at knowing HOW to care for them. I hope your project works out and they bloom bigger and better than last year!

ReplyDeleteI really love mandevilla too and have grown them in the past. They are striking even from the curb. I have tried saving plants through the winter and some do well. Some however, do well and then come down with some insect/pest and I fight it for a while and then give up.
ReplyDeleteI have also tried taking cuttings and rooting with a rooting hormone, but woody stem plants are difficult. I have two very beautiful, very old hardy hibiscus and I have not been successful in getting cuttings started no matter how I try.
Hello...oh, how pretty! We have a Red Riding Hood (madevilla) on our front porch...I've alos heard them called Scarlet Pimpernel. I like to decorate the patio with potted plants :)

Gorgeous plants. I love the mandevilla vines, but really have a problem with mites when I try to grow them. No matter how much I spray, those pesky boogers just keep coming back...Guess I'll have to enjoy your's!!

ReplyDeleteI love that vine, I just can't spell it LOL! I finally just gave up hope on a potted plant I have kept alive for 4 years. I changed the soil once and fertilized faithfully. I keep my potted plants to minimum as it is so hot in Florida that they take constant watering.

ReplyDeleteLove Mandevilla Vine. I have had them in the past when no one around here even knew what they were. I haven't used them in a couple of years.....you have made me want to bring them back! The scarlet color is beautiful. As for decorating with pots...you must visit my post I did this week on my marble table on the deck. Found a nursery in Michigan that is the best ever, moss and all!

ReplyDeleteThe madevilla is so pretty with those red flowers! I love that you could bring them in over the winter and they survive! There are 2 concrete urns in the front of my house which I plant annuals in each year. Potted flowers are so charming.
