Fabric Covered Bulletin Board (Tutorial) with Ballard Designs Push Pins

Updating My Office

Ballard Designs has some of the prettiest push pins.

Since this was once my husband's office the bulletin board was not at all feminine.

I knew it was an easy update. It only took about an hour to do.

The longest part of the project was ironing the fabric and waiting for the glue to dry.

~ Fabric Covered Bulletin Board ~
1) Cut your fabric a little wider than your bulletin board. Make sure there is enough fabric to go around the back of the board.
2) Iron the fabric if it has wrinkles.
*I left the old fabric in place since the new fabric was thick enough to hide the old fabric. You could add a layer of batting if you don't have fabric already in place. It gives a softer look to the board.
3) Next I used spray adhesive (outside) and just sprayed the front of the bulletin board. This way I could remove the new fabric if I ever wanted to change it.
4) Wait a few minutes then place your fabric onto the sticky bulletin board and rub the fabric to get a good bond.
5) Turn the board over and glue (I used Elmer's) the rest of the fabric onto the back of the bulletin board and let dry.
6) Now have fun decorating your bulletin board!

The desk top is getting a new look. Ignore the primed top.

As you can see the desk and hutch have been getting made over too.
The desk draws and cabinet doors still need to go back on.
I need to finish the top of the desk first.

I'm making some progress on my office. It seems I will be updated everything. I've been spending all my time in here. It will be nice when I can actually use the room :)

Thanks for stopping by!

  29. I love this, but you always do an excellent job on everything. The problem with redoing a working space is that it is a mess when going through the process. Oh, but when it's done it is marvelous and fresh. Have fun! Connie :)
