My office


My soon to be office is coming along. I’m so excited!!! I just painted the radiator cover with chalk paint and the metal sheets that go in the radiator openings. I'm just waiting for them to dry. I'm going to make burlap drapes. The desk is getting painted with chalk paint.

It looks so much prettier and so much brighter in the room already. 


 I added the peacock feather to one of the cloches and used chalk paint on the A to Z letters. The lamp also was painted with chalk paint. (Old White)


I used rejuvenate on my 100 year old floor.

    :( BOO!!!!! People should not sell their pee rugs to others....not nice!!!! I am so sorry....but your radiator looks pretty! We don't really have those in the South, so they have always fascinated me. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

    That's heartbreaking because not only were you scammed, but betrayed by a friend. Hang it in the sunshine and air it out first of all. We had a urine stain/smell on a carpet and the cleaner said if it is a dog, it will come out, if it's from a cat it won't. Anyway he recommended putting baking soda under the rug and also working it into the fibers from the top. It would need to be reapplied when you noticed the odor again.

    I kinda doubt if it can be fixed. The lady I used to work for had cats and they peed all over her wall to wall. She had to rip it out and get new carpet cause nothing worked to rtemove the smell. I am so sorry for you. Try to have a good weekend. XO, pinky

    I'm so sorry to hear about the zebra rug. I don't understand how people can do what she did. It is heartbreaking to hear that she won't take it back, after all you are friends.

    I don't know what to tell you about how to get the smell out. I'm sure you have checked out the various resources about how to remove odors. It's just ashamed that she would react this way especially since I didn't see anywhere in her ad about "sold as is". This kind of behavior is deceptive and makes every person who is honest suffer. I'm so much the other way that if someone was unhappy with something I was selling I would give their money back. :) I tried to click onto recommend this on Google but it won't let me do anything.

    I can only imagine how you feel!!

    Hi Dee, Oh Drat, it's terrible when something like this happens. Maybe if you call a vet, they have products for this. I've never used them but have others talk about the subject. Good luck with the rug cleaning. Your floors look awesome………

    I bought a product from my Vet's office called Nok Out. You can also get it online http://www.nokout.com/. I had good luck with it in our camper and have sprayed our sofa with it.

    So sorry to read this. That is sad and shows any lack of class.
    What can you do? You don't even know the source of the foul odor... I just went back to Petco.com where I read about some products that eliminate odors and stains of cat pee (the strongest of all pee...). You might try that one. I only read about it and cannot personally attest to it but the reviews have been very positive.

    As for not making it wet, I would throw that a bit to the wind as it is a fact that zebras also live in the rain. Don't they? We have to use analytical thinking. So please do give it a try.
    So sorry for your sorrow and you have had it now for half a year so by airing it or whatever this is not going to vanish.

    Hi Dee,

    I just came to your blog from Rosemary (Villabarne) I feel so bad that you are having this trouble... Last year when I arrived home after a short trip, My Cat obviously had been upset with this & decided to Pee all over My Mattress & Sofa (I had a neighbor come in to feed & check on the cat daily) but still, He was clearly upset with Me ~ I went to Petco to check out what I could do to rid the smell & stain, then I research what the main ingredients were~ it was Hydrogen Peroxide from the drug store, I thought I may as well try it, 2 bottles of Peroxide for $2.49 or a bottle from petco for $22.00 which was also a pretty color & fragranced. I poured the peroxide straight on the stains & then set up fans to help the drying, within 2 days, it was totally dried, NO SMELL or urine & NO Stains ~ I read that the oxygenation in the HP totally eliminates the urine~ I now keep a spray bottle of HP for any little kitty cat accidents that happen & my house smells clean as can be..... I would try this on a small spot on the bottom side & see what happens, if you can't return it, you're already out the money (unfortunately) so maybe you can fix it~ Fingers crossed for you.... Hope this helps a bit.

    Dee, I'm so sorry! I know how hard you have worked on your office and what a disappointment this is! I always want people to be happy with their purchases. I would never want anyone hurt and disappointed. I know you're the same way! Hopefully, she will reconsider and take the rug back. On a brighter note, I'm loving what I see in your office!     How awful! I read online that white vinegar works...I tried it on my own carpet and it did! After the vinegar dries, I read that you add baking soda and let sit for a couple of hours. It should remove the vinegar smell...

    So sorry that this happened to you.

    If you can wet the rug, use Simple Solutions. This is an American product I discovered in the UK, and it's pure magic. It got rid of cat urine smells and stains every single time. It contains enzymes that digest the proteins causing the smell. You saturate the carpet or whatever and when it's dry, the smell is gone.

    The only caveat here is that you have to complete soak the area where the urine is,(which might not be an option on a cowhide rug) and if you've already used soap or Mr Clean or bleach, you have to clean that off, first.

    They also make a powder, but I've never tried that.

    It's the only product I'd endorse after decades of living with cute but incontinent cats.

    I'm so sorry this happened to you, Dee. It sounds like a miserable situation. I hope you can resolve it.

    I am so sorry Dee. I have used Woolite Oxy Stain and Odor Remover. With the cowhide some of the suggestions here sound good, including talking with a vet and Petmart, etc.

    Hi Dee, so sorry about your plight. How frustrating. I have some stuff I got from my vet called "Equalizer" from when our last dog went into kidney failure. It worked pretty good, but I don't know how serious the odor is in your rug. I also had to use powdered Oxyclean this week to remove some blood from the carpet and I diluted it according to the package directions. I wonder if it would remove an odor too. Worked like magic on the blood. I sprayed it with a spray bottle which I don't think classifies as getting the rug wet but it may absorb some of the smell. I would use it on the back of the rug first and then try the front. Good luck.

    I clicked on her site and there was no page there . . . she has apparently moved. I think that I would be desperate enough to try water anyway. If it were mine I would put it on the patio and turn the high pressure nozzle on it and just work it across back and forth from one side to the other and from one end to the other. This is how I clean my rug on the patio.
    You can not use it as is . . . so it's worth a chance.
    I feel bad for you, but considering it a lose might end up being your best bet. You know what they say about one bad apple. Don't let this steal your joy . . . life is just too short.
    I think just letting others know to beware is a good reminder to all of us. Thank you for sharing. Connie :)
    P,S. If you do this and it works... then I think I might spray it with free-breeze after it dries . . . just to give it a sweet refreshing before bringing it back into the house.

    I wish I knew an answer for the soiled rug...I know when Lucy was a puppy and peed on rugs I had to replace them, as no matter what I did, nothing worked.

    Oh goodness, I can see the smoke coming out your ears...Who in the world would sell a pee stained rug?? I hate selling on line, I am so afraid people won't like what I make when they get it, it has never happened, but I would return their money so quick!! That is really gutsy! To bad she did not sell through Ebay or Etsy, then you would have some traction to get your money back! Looks like you have received a lot of good ideas, do give us a follow up!

    what a stinker! Literally. So sorry you were deceived. Okay since you asked..wipe with a damp (but not wet) sponge or cloth using mild soapy solution. You should be able to wipe and rub the hair vigorously in any direction.Then clean with a damp cloth using a diluted 5% white vinegar and 95% water solution, this balances the PH levels and helps to eliminate unpleasant odours. Please try this in a small area first.No guarantee my friend. But I hope it works. xo

    The rug is amazing,I've always wanted an animal print rug(minus the stinky).Wonder how much it would cost to take to the cleaners,or if they would try to clean it,probable be too expensive...sure hope you can find a way to get the stinky out,it's shame for something so great looking,have to be thrown out!...please keep us up-dated if you have good results from any of these suggestions.

    Dee, I love everything so far in your new office - beige is one of my fave colours... really curious to see the final result...and so sorry for the carpet- it looks great, but with the stink surely it is difficult to bear...well, lately I discovered that vinegar is excellent for removing vomit smell - who has small kids knows what is this, and not only, so why don't you give it a try to wash the back side with a vinegar dipped towel and leave it on the sun to dry...just an idea...

    Shoot, that is to bad. You might be able to get something at the pet store. I would bring it out side and hose it down with some anti urine solution. I did have an animal rug that I hosed down and it came out all right.

    I just met someone at DFW yesterday that is in Dallas on business this week. She and I have communicated online for eons and now we met...great!

    Back to the rug. Can you contact manufacturers...look up the rugs online and then write or call? Perhaps they can help resolve the issue.

    Still just dumbfounded that anyone would do this ~ :(

    What an awful woman. Shame on her for not being honest with you. I don't believe you can get the smell out, you might just have to toss the rug out and cut your loses. Hate it, because we have experience that ourselves as well. This is why I don't buy from people who have pets, no matter what. Sorry Dee!

    We used it in a cat litter box - you could smell NOTHING. It works with some natural enzymes.
