Polar Vortex: Deep Freeze

Baby It's Cold Outside!!!
It was four degrees outside this morning and now it's eleven. My husband asked me if I saw the ice on our windows when he came down for coffee. The car doors did not want to open. I wanted to head right back into bed. How about you are you cold enough? It appears most of the country is shivering. So much for global warming these days. lol
This snow picture is from a few days ago..........
You know it's been cold outside when your husband is always warm now dresses like the abominable snowman every time he goes out to shovel snow.

I kid you not!!!!
I tend to cook a lot when it's cold outside. Here is my homemade bone broth I made from turkey carcass. I just added fresh veggies and an avocado. The secret to good soup is not to cook the veggies but to only warm them. Yum!
I wish you could have some soup with me and enjoy the warm wonderful heat from our fireplace.
How is the cold affecting you? How are you staying warm and passing the time?

Thanks for stopping by!
XO,
Dee

Looks and sound yummy! Believe it or not our temperature was five degrees this morning! It didn't get above freezing all day! Tomorrow is more of the same, but we don't have the snow. Stay safe and warm! I'm staying inside too.

Oh Dee is is cold outside yes!!! Such a cute post...love the abominable snow husband...too cute! Our cat wanted to go out and I let him...withing 10 minutes he was meowing at the door wanting to come in! And I see great minds think alike...I just made turkey soup with barley over the weekend...perfect for these super frigid days. Tonight it will be a fire and glass of wine to warm the old bones.
Stay warn my friend!
Lots of hugs...

Visiting my sister in Upper Michigan currently, in a blizzard. Her house is warm and toasty and her hubby made the best savory soup similar to yours. Hit the spot! I miss my fireplace (back in VA) but I'm thankful that I am staying warm and toasty! Hugs! -Bev

Oh my gosh you have me shivering. It is 37 right now in Orlando...Really cold for us, but it will be short lived and back in the 80's this weekend! I grew up in Minnesota so I understand cold! I love soap when it is cold!

It has been terribly cold here in the South too Dee. I suppose we can't complain though, no snow and blizzard like conditions. I sure do not miss those days. Your soup looks great!

Dee, I don't know how you are even managing in this freezing cold weather. I shiver just thinking about the cold. Hopefully it will thaw soon. Keeping warm thoughts for you all in the freeze zones.

Dearest Dee,
Haha, you are a kindred spirit as today when I did reply to the comments on my blog, I mentioned in different languages those idiots that write about and make a living off that Global Warming thing... They should have to shovel and wrestle with daily life up north in Canada!
But you are right a fire place, a good soup, that is what we need very much in winter time.
We did drive to Atlanta on our coldest day when it was 5°F for the southeast. Even in Miami it was only 50°F.
After spending one night in Atlanta we did a lot of shopping yesterday and came home. I got exhausted from the long drive; that is my share lately and it takes me a day to get back. Of course coming home there is about one-and-a-half hour needed for putting everything in the freezer and fridge when unloading the car.
Hugs to you and we manage, it was fun to wear our heavy sweaters and winter coats once more! We only used them for our consulting work in the north and Canada.

The polar vortex has moved on from our region thank goodness! We were having to use our fireplace and bundle up when going outside too. Your snow is very pretty! We didn't get any snow. If we had those low temps I would bundle up like the abomidable snowman too

Ha!ha! Your guy does look like the abominable snowman! Guess we all have lately. I have never put an avocado in my soup...wonder why it never occurred to me to do so because I sure love them! I will next time!
