9 Ways to a Darling Bedroom via Cushions

Hi Everyone! I am Kathy Joe from Yorkshire Linen and I am a home decor lover from head to toe. I love generating new ideas for experimenting with home decor and making things beautiful. You can contact us here on Facebook for more updates.

Bedrooms should be pretty! Even if you are the most macho of men, or have a general abhorrence of frills and furbelows, you will adore having a charming and attractive bedroom! This is because the bedroom is a place where we can let down our guard and entirely relax – and we subconsciously want to do this in a place that is reminiscent of our mothers – soft, sweet and infinitely comforting.

1 Deliciously Feminine

Even a single man can have a deliciously feminine bedroom if he likes! However, the quickest and easiest way to fill a bedroom with soft comfort is to invest in a couple of sets of cushions with attractive covers. Frills and lace are perfect for a very dainty and girlish effect, while plain crisp cotton makes cuddly cushions acceptable even to ‘hard’ men!
2 Splash of Colour

Your bedroom décor can seem dull or bland without a splash of colour to enliven it, and cushions are the perfect tool for introducing exactly the right colours in exactly the right quantities. Choose a very strong (either dark or bright, depending on your personal preference) accent colour and make sure that this is used sparingly, but evenly throughout your whole room. This careful picking out of the décor colours helps to complete and polish the décor.
3 Wonderful White

All-white bedrooms look stunning and elegant, and the total whiteness can be completed with a set of beautiful white cushions, artfully placed on the bed. However, an intriguing possibility, if you are one of those who does not enjoy the unbroken expanses of pure white, is to add a scattering of cheerful and colourful cushions. You can add one each of red, blue and yellow to provide a dash of primary colour to the otherwise pristine décor, or you can opt for a set of cushions all in one colour (your favourite, obviously!). You will find that cushions are a great addition to your snowy white bedroom: whether it is pristinely white or has some touches of primary brights about it.
4 Floor to Ceiling

Add drama and elegance to your bedroom by adding tall bookcases and dramatically sweeping floor length curtains. Thick wall to wall carpeting cocoons you in soft comfort, giving the room a mature, yet appealing charm. Finish the look with sedate, yet cosy cushions for extra softness.
 5 Minimal Décor

If you crave simplicity and no fuss after a busy and hectic day, decorate your room in a spartan, minimalist style, but add a handful of cushions to soften the stark lines and infuse the room with welcome and comfort.
 6 Old-school Glamour

Antique effect furniture, with carved curving lines and warm honey-coloured wood makes the bedroom glow with natural beauty. Dress up your wooden furniture with soft heaps of large cushions to achieve a wonderfully romantic look.
7 Geometry Tribe?

Tribal or geometric effect fabrics can be hinted at by bedding and shouted with cushions for delightfully striking décor appeal! These sharp contrasts and unusual shapes instantly draw the eye, enabling you to craft the focal point of your bedroom precisely.

8 Ordinary Nicety

Sometimes a ‘normal’ conventional bedroom is all we crave. Lovely bedding, matching curtains and all the décor simple and easy on the eye, with no arty difficulty or stress all combine to make a restful and ordinary haven in the effort and hassle of everyday life. Make sure that you bed is piled high with soft billowing pillows and cushions so that it oozes invite and charisma.
9 Pop Bedroom

Make your bedroom pop by adding a hit of hot pink, fizzing lime green or electric blue to otherwise tranquil and restful décor. This sizzling pop of neon brightness adds another dimension to any bedroom, and if you choose to install it with cushions, it can easily be changed when you get bored of it!

OH how I long to create a frilly, feminine, vintage room! My girls are pretty 'transient' so I'm just about ready to convert their room into a guest room (that I'd still let them use WHEN they are home). Great ideas and inspiration!

I think it's so important to have a beautiful and comfortable bedroom. I had a dream of a Lady of Shallot inspired bedroom and that's what I've decorated mine. Enjoy your weekend my friend! Sweet hugs!
