Would you love to update your lamps but don't know how to go about it? Anyone can do this! It's so quick and easy!
I was amazed how fast I could transform a lamp with
The color I used was Old White - Chalk Paint.
{The French script lampshade is from Walmart} Walmart has beautiful and cheap lampshades. The lampshade was under $10.00. Walmart has many wonderful styles and sizes to choose from.
For this project all I did was paint the lamp with a coat of chalk paint. Instead of
sanding the lamp after the paint dried I decided to use a DRY paper
towel. I wiped off areas where I did not want the paint to stick while the lamp was still wet. Super easy if you don't want to sand yet you want the look you see in all the magazines and stores. I think the lamp turned out beautiful! My lamp is now updated and trendy. I'm a true fan of chalk paint. Are YOU TOO? There are now so many different brands of chalk paint on the market. Home Depot is now selling chalk paint. It's called Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint.
I applied a coat of Minwax clear paste finishing wax and just started to buff with a cotton cloth after the paint dried. It was so easy to do. You can find clear paste wax at any home improvement store. I've even seen the clear paste wax at the supermarket.
You can skip the wax and just spray on a poly finish. I recommend using Minwax Polycrylic water based clear finish. The reason for waxing or using poly is it seals the paint and keeps it from chipping. You don't need to do anything after painting your lamp it's all up to you. Adding a finish to your lamp will make dusting easier and will give your lamp a beautiful low luster shine.

Hi Dee, I loved your painted lamp, and wiping out some of the paint made it look great!!!!
Blessings,
Nadya
The lamp looks great! I love that there is no need to prime, when using chalk paint. I've been lifting the brush up on the areas I used to sand so it's such a light coat that I don't even need to wipe it off. Aren't I lazy! ~ Maureen
Something like that I can do! Love it. sandie
I love it! And I think you just helped me decide what color to do my guest bedroom furniture. You just never know what you will find in Wal Mart - love the shade. xo
I love it! WalMart has some cute lamp shades. I have one I bought and no lamp for it yet. :) Haven't used the chalk paint yet. I really like the idea of using the dry paper towel rather than sanding.

I love painting lamps! Total makeover! I have the same lampshade from Wal-mart x2, love it. As for ASCP (waiting for the lightning to strike me now) I have not found it to be quite as amazing as it's cracked up to be. I actually just used some today, will be blogging about it soon. Be sure to stop by!
Dearest Dee,
That is at least a very fast and inexpensive way of transforming a lamp.
Hugs and love,
Mariette
Never used chalk paint, it looks pretty good and not sanding is appealing. Cute lampshade, too.

What a transformation! I love it and that lampshade. I have been using ASCP for about a year and love it. I just painted a candlestick holder in ASCP Robin's Egg Blue for The Dedicated House's "Make it Pretty Monday."

What a great idea to wipe it off before it dries! Yeah, sometimes the sanding gets to be so messy -- this is a really good alternative for getting the same look -- love the transformation!
Am I the last person on the planet to try chalk paint?! I feel so left out - may need to go buy some! Love that there's no priming!

Dee,
I love the lamp also....think I will try it...I have several lamps I would love to redo. I have never used chalk paint but guess there's a first time for everything.

Wow I love that lamp and the shade is a perfect match.
Your lamp is so pretty now, painting it white and then aging it was exactly what it needed! The french script shade is perfect for it. So very pretty! Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration with Sunday’s Best – you helped make the party a success!
